The Freedom of Rowing (click to see prints and notecards available)

"The Freedom of Rowing" depicts a young woman from a light weight eight boat at the Head of the Charles Regatta in Boston. As the boat flew by, the braids flying out from under the red, white and blue bandana left an impression of an American flag in the turbulent water. Appreciating the patriotic sentiment, the inspiration for this painting was born.

This is available as a high quality Open Edition giclee, and a high quality Limited Edition Giclee. The Limited Edition is larger, and signed and numbered by artist Patrice LaBarre Murphy. Sorry! The original painting has been sold to another crew enthusiast!

The Freedom of Rowing - Who's Got Your Back

Rowing indoors, or "erging" can be a time of contemplation and focus, calling on all motivational resources that the athlete can muster. In a bold expression of color, the movement of this rower is captured as she is exercising her freedom to row.
